When the town sprayed to save the elm trees I would hold my breath and pray, Catholics, ya know.
Our streets were canopied by elegant old elm trees.
Now Maple trees are threatened by a blight and global warming.

I do not recall spraying ... my recollection is that they injected the elm trees with something to stop the progress of the disease, maybe by killing the beetles. They used large tubes that were plunged into the ground around the roots.
